Nominated for Best Play and Best Scenic Design in 2002 and winner of the Tony Award for Best Direction, Metamorphoses brings a contemporary interpretation to a seven ancient myths.

Tickets for the production will be available starting February 20 by calling the box office at 845-4488--Tickets are $10 per seat.

With its emphasis on love, loss and the transforming powers of memory and imagination, Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses is a 90-minute sweep of vignettes that is a fraction of Ovid’s astonishing 15-book narrative poem of collected myths that purported to explain everything about the universe.

The setting for the play is both unique and challenging as all of the action of the play occurs in and around a large pool of water onstage. The audience will join the actors onstage for an intimate evening of theatre. Only 100 seats per performance will be available. “Mary Zimmerman’s beautiful and deeply humane Metamorphoses…reanimate Ovid’s myths with a combination of agile storytelling and enthralling stagecraft. Funny one moment, achingly sorrowful the next, Metamorphoses somehow manages both to lift you out of the moment you are living in and speak to it with piercing directness,” said the Wall-Street-Journal.
