Verona Area Education Foundation Holds New Fundraising Initiative Spotlighting Student Work
(see winning student artwork list below)
The Verona Area Education Foundation (VAEF), in partnership with the City of Verona and Verona Area School District, is excited to announce the student artists to be recognized in the new City of Verona street banner program for East Verona Avenue. With the theme of ‘Hometown USA’, this inaugural project features art from nearly 40 district students from all grade levels. Students used a wide variety of mediums to highlight the community assets that make Verona a great place.
The winning banners will be on display at the Verona Public Library through May 31 with a culminating celebration at the library on Thur., May 18th from 6:30-8pm. Banner installation along East Verona Avenue will occur in late May. A walking tour brochure will also be produced allowing residents to take a self-guided tour of the banners, and learn about the artists and the stories behind individual pieces. The walking tour brochure will be available on the City of Verona and VAEF website (verona.k12.wi.us under district tab) and City website, as well as at City Hall and many of the businesses along the East Verona Avenue corridor.
Businesses and individuals interested in supporting the student artists and banner program may do so in one of two ways:
•Bidding on a banner to display at their home or office through our online auction by visiting here: http://www.32auctions.com/VAEF25BannerYears
•Sponsoring a banner to be donated to the student artist for $150. Banner sponsors will also have the option to include their logos on
the walking tour brochure, and/or to receive copies of the brochure for distribution at their place of business. Sponsorships can be made through the Paypal link on our website (http://bit.ly/2nNld54) or via check payable to VAEF. Contact Janet Lalor at firstname.lastname@example.org to provide sponsorship information and obtain a mailing address if paying by check.
Proceeds from the sale of banners will be used to fund future banner art initiatives and to grow the VAEF classroom grant program. This program provides funding for district staff pursuing unique and innovative education opportunities for students in the district. Now in its 25th year, the VAEF has funded more than 275 individual projects, providing over $100,000 for schools in the district.
