District Offers Middle School Option for Mandarin Chinese Learning!

The Verona Area School District is pleased to share that we are now offering an opportunity for middle school students to take part in Mandarin Chinese learning if they fall within the criteria listed below.

Criteria for Entrance into the program:
One of the following criteria must be in place for students entering the Chinese Middle School Program at Savanna Oaks:
•Participate in VAIS four or more years
•Participate in a different Chinese immersion program or school
•Provide test results from an Mandarin language proficiency assessment 
•Demonstrate Mandarin language proficiency through language background or prior language immersion experience.

Program Details
The class will be held from 7:30 to 8:15 at Savanna Oaks Middle School.  Room information will be communicated as we get closer to the beginning of school.

This will be a multi-age class with students in grades 6-8.

We have hired a Mandarin Chinese instructor to teach the class.
The class will meet each week Tuesday through Friday over the course of the school year.  The first class will be held on Tuesday, September 5.  

Students who attend Badger Ridge or Core Knowledge will be transported from Savanna Oaks and will arrive at their home school in time for first period.

We will make arrangements for students who need transportation from their home to Savanna Oaks. If you would like more information, please contact Ann Franke at frankea@verona.k12.wi.us or 608-845-4311.

Please fill out this Google form by Monday, August 7 if you would like your child to attend the Chinese class at Savanna Oaks Middle School.  If you do not wish for your child to attend, there is no further action you need to take.
