Attendance Area Advisory Committee

In the Fall of 2018, the Verona Area School District Board of Education formed an Attendance Area Advisory Committee (AAAC) comprised of parents, staff and community members with the charge of developing up to three recommendations for new elementary and middle school boundaries to take effect starting the 2020-2021 school year. 

The AAAC met for nearly 30 hours, deliberating nine different options and measuring them up against the Board criteria before choosing their top three to recommend for Board consideration. Click here to view those options and resources.

As a reminder, the Building for 2020 campaign includes the ‘lift and shift’ of six schools:
•Current high school moves to the new high school site
•Badger Ridge Middle School and Core Knowledge Charter School will move into the current High School main building
•New Century Charter School and Verona Area International School will move into the K-wing of the High School
•Sugar Creek Elementary will move into the current Badger Ridge Middle School/Core Knowledge Charter School building
•Current Sugar Creek Elementary and New Century Charter School buildings will close

CHARGE OF THE COMMITTEE:
The Charge of the Attendance Area Advisory Committee (AAAC) is to:
•Study and review all current elementary and middle school attendance areas with attention to:
  o The VASD strategic plan
  o Established Board criteria
  o Historical enrollment trends
  o Future enrollment projections
  o Building capacity
•Create up to three recommendations for the Board of Education on changes to the elementary and
middle school boundaries. These recommendations are all to be viable options from the
committee’s perspective and are measured relative to the established Board criteria.
•Serve as key communicators to parents and community members about the process.

ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and will be held at the Central Office Board Room, 700 N. Main St. in Verona. The schedule for the committee meeting dates is:
