Keynote speaker Shaun Martin
spoke in the High School PAC on Wednesday, August 26th to offer a pep talk for teachers as the new year is around the bend....

The presentation was a fascinating mix of educational history on the remote Navajo reservation combined with traditional Navajo culture and running, climaxing with the idea of changing our perspectives and relationship capacities in the classroom. The presentation revolved around hardships and obstacles endured in life and in education on the Navajo reservation. Mr. Martin related these hardships to current hurdles educators face today in all areas of the country. Teachers could hopefully identify interpersonal strategies to turn negatives into positives using their own “cultural beliefs” in their classrooms to connect with their students.
