BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS & SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

The Board spent the summer of 2019 reviewing the three options recommended to them by the Attendance Area Advisory Committee (located at the bottom of this page) and working alongside District Consultant, Mark Roffers to review and make adjustments to these options. Below is a timeline sharing when all the various options were reviewed and adjustments were made to refine those options for the Board until a final decision was made!

As a reminder, in the Fall of 2018, the Verona Area School District Board of Education formed an Attendance Area Advisory Committee (AAAC) comprised of parents, staff and community members with the charge of developing up to three recommendations for new elementary and middle school boundaries to take effect starting the 2020-2021 school year. Click here for more information on the committee and their work. The AAAC met for nearly 30 hours, deliberating nine different options and measuring them up against the Board criteria before choosing their top three to recommend for Board consideration.

Here are the FINAL boundary decision supporting documents following their approval at the July 23 Board Meeting:

6-25-19 Board Meeting: (Researching how many incoming 6th-grade students are affected by boundary adjustment)
Following additional research regarding the middle school survey discussed at the previous board meeting, the Board made the decision to offer a choice to six families who have an incoming 6th grade student to start their student NOT at their attendance area middle school, but instead at the middle school which takes effect once boundary changes are unveiled for the 2020-2021 school year (thereby reducing the number of transitions.) All other incoming 6th grade students (and middle schoolers) will attend their attendance area middle school for the 2019-2020 school year as originally planned. Again, boundary adjustments will take affect for the 2020-2021 school year and may move students to a new middle school at that time.
