Continuous Improvement

What is continuous improvement?

Continuous improvement is a process to achieve our mission: EVERY student MUST be successful! School goals are aligned to the VASD equity framework. Continuous improvement involves a cycle of developing a shared vision, analyzing data, planning the work that needs to happen, implementing strategies and action steps, and gathering data to measure the impact of the work.

In VASD, our continuous improvement process has two main premises: defined autonomy and distributed leadership. Defined autonomy refers to working to achieve a balance between the amount of centralized direction from the District, which allows for consistency across schools, and individualized empowerment, giving sites the freedom to respond effectively to the needs of students and families particular to each school. Distributed leadership is a practice in which staff members are given opportunities to take the lead in continuous improvement efforts.
