Verona Area High School students who take part in the Verona Area High School functional vocational program can qualify for the 18 to 21-year-old transition program and learn real world job skills.
Watch this short video to learn about the program...
The passage of the Individuals with Disabilities Act in 1990 mandated school districts to provide transition services for students with disabilities to improve post–school success.
More than 100 students have gone through the Verona Area transition program. Currently, the program exists at the Badger Prairie Needs Network location (1200 E. Verona Ave.) allowing students to benefit from interaction with other adults, be it volunteers or patrons of the food pantry, while also learning a variety of work skills obtained at the pantry.
These work skills are transferable into their life as they leave the transition program to go out on their own. Students are presently employed at a variety of places in the community including Kwik Trip, Hill Electric, Sugar River Pizza, Miller’s Grocery Store and MORE!
