This is the image for the news article titled Sugar Creek Principal Plays Student For a DayIn order to have a better understanding of the education our students receive, Sugar Creek Principal Todd Brunner spent a day as an elementary student, shadowing First Grader Angel Zapata Rios in a Two Way Immersion Spanish-English classroom.

Mr. Brunner learned first-hand what a language-rich
classroom was like. Students reviewed the schedule, the weather, held a morning meeting, problem-solved, reviewed routines and worked on a writing project. Ms. Kyle had them practicing musical scales, followed by Ms. Godar who shared a great book before helping them pick their library books for the week.

Later, Fifth Grader Tyler Grimm kindly let Mr. Brunner shadow him as they saw how fifth grade teachers use math data to create groups, how students receive in-depth support and guidance in math work, and that there are a variety of ways provided for students to collaborate and explore their mathematical understandings. They
earned their recess today!
