At the Jan. 11 and Jan. 25 board meetings, the Verona Area School District Board of Education made a decision on a means to control the overcrowding at Glacier Edge: (for more information on the district's long-range planning, visit )

1. Effective immediately, Elementary students new to Glacier Edge (meaning no prior experience in Glacier Edge, no siblings in Glacier Edge) in grades K-5 that live in or move to the area bounded to the west by Hwy 69, to the north by Hwy M (starting at Range Trail road) and all points south and east of those roads (including Shady Bend) will instead attend Country View Elementary School. A high quality, detailed map is being developed and will be shared here upon completion. Click here for a larger version of the map shown above.

Students in this attendance area who fit this description will continue to be assigned to Country View until a new school comes on line or other boundary adjustments are made. Also, students in that area who apply and are chosen through the lottery for the TWI program will be placed in Sugar Creek Elementary School for that program.

2. Secondly, households located in the Quarry Vista quadrant could also experience redistricting. This quadrant is located within the boundaries south of McKee Road, east of HWY 151, north of Whalen Road and west of Mutchler Rd and S. Seminole HWY (as seen on map link shared above).

Elementary students in this area who currently attend Glacier Edge will continue to attend Glacier Edge. Younger siblings, who are not yet attending Kindergarten, will also be allowed to attend Glacier Edge so long as they have an older sibling who has attended Glacier Edge before this change. New families who move into this area will attend Stoner Prairie Elementary as their attendance area elementary school.

If you have any other questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to email superintendent Dean Gorrell at or phone at 608-845-4310. Click here to see a basic set of "frequently asked questions." Again, we thank all the families and staff members who took part in the recent survey and communicated their suggestions/concerns through board meeting attendance or communications with the board and Superintendent.
